Storm Team4

Weather alert: Cold, rain and snow on a nasty Friday

NBC Universal, Inc.

Storm Team4 is in weather alert mode Friday, which has felt more like January than November, meteorologist Amelia Draper noted.

The D.C. metro area shivered through rain, snow and wind chills in the 20s and 30s. It's been the coldest day since mid-February. Temperatures were above freezing, but the day only warmed up to the low-to-mid 40s.

By 10 a.m., areas to the north and west of Washington saw a bit of snow that melted as it hit the ground.

The snow then changed over to rain, which could continue into Friday evening.

The weekend will be blustery but seasonable, with temperatures just a couple of degrees below the average high of 56.
