Itβs time to cancel your indoor plans for tonight because sunshine and warm temperatures will grace the D.C. area for the next several hours for the first time in days.
After a record-breaking rainy streak, including 16 straight days of at least a trace of rain, Storm Team4 Meteorologist Veronica Johnson said the District and suburbs should look forward to a less "dismal" weekend. She said we can expect to see the sun throughout the evening and into lunchtime tomorrow -- leaving plenty of time for an outdoor TGIF celebration this evening.
The rain could be back by 1 p.m. on Saturday, so Nats fans should be wary of a game delay. Johnson said that rain may last until 5 p.m., and could also turn into isolated thunderstorms across the area.
While this short period of clear skies is exciting, don't get too comfortable in the warm weather. By Sunday, being outside will feel more like a throwback to early spring with cloudy skies, gusty winds and temperatures in the low 60s through Tuesday, Johnson said.
But all hope is not lost for signs of summer. It is the season for proms, graduations and weddings, after all, and Johnson said she expects to see warmer weather next weekend as we near the end of the month.
Stay tuned to Storm Team4 for up-to-date forecasts all weekend long.
