Extreme heat grips DC area
On Wednesday afternoon, D.C. recorded its fourth consecutive day with temperatures at or above 100Β°, tying a record for its hottest streak ever.
These past few weeks have been nearly unbearable, but the end is in sight. The average temperature in D.C. over the last 30 days has been 84.4Β°. That's the hottest on record over the time period and 1.5Β° hotter than second place, which occurred in 2012.
Wednesday night's rain cooled down the air, and Thursday's high should feel more average for this time of year, about 90Β°. Highs expected Friday and Saturday should be about 88Β°.
