Plan for Tuesday to be much like Monday: sunny, breezy and cold with highs barely above 40°. The wind will settle down after sunset so brace for a bitter cold start on Wednesday morning. Urban areas will hold in the mid-20s Tuesday night but there will be widespread 10s north and west of Dulles Airport.
After a cold, calm and sunny start Wednesday, the winds and clouds will increase quickly.

Will there be snow this week?
A strong cold front will come through the area first thing Thursday morning. Temperatures will still be in the mid-to-upper 30s so a mix of rain and wet snowflakes looks likely. There won't be any accumulation of snow for most of the area but snow showers will persist throughout the morning and into early afternoon as temperatures hover near 40°.
Northwest winds will gust over 40 mph at times for most of the daylight hours keeping wind chills in the 10s and low 20s all day. The wind will stay up Thursday night and not die down until the sun sets on Friday.
Highs on Friday afternoon will remain in the mid-to-upper 30s under sunny and blustery conditions. The weekend will stay dry before our next chance of rain arrives on Monday. Highs on Saturday will only reach the low 40s but Sunday will be milder with highs in the low 50s.
