4 things to know about the weather
- Goodbye sunshine
- Burst of rain this evening
- Wind machine cranking up
- Rain chance for Thanksgiving
A major storm crossing the Great Lakes Wednesday will send us a line of rainstorms this evening and leave us windblown for days to come.
Most of Wednesday will be easy to deal with. It will be plenty mild, with temperatures about 10° above average and only a spot or two of rain before sunset. The cold front attached to the storm will arrive just around midnight.

Ahead of the front, a period of moderate rain is expected. A quick half-inch of rain is likely between sunset and midnight. Locally, higher amounts are possible and a rumble or two of thunder cannot be ruled out. The steady rain will taper back to occasional showers that will last until sunrise and return again in the middle of Thursday afternoon.
Rain totals on Thursday won't be much but it will look and feel like more thanks to a blustery northwest wind that could gust to near 30 mph at times. Combine that with temperatures in the 40s and it's going to feel like winter for several days.

A windy weekend
Friday will be no better. There might be a bit of sun Friday morning but clouds will thicken and deliver another period of misty rain and cold, gusty winds Friday afternoon.
A change in wind direction, from the northwest to the southwest, will help a bit on Saturday. Winds could still gust past 30 mph but there will be more sunshine and temperatures should return to the mid-50s in the afternoon.
More tranquil weather will return for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with highs near 60°. Rain chances remain in the forecast for Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day. Another shot of cold air will arrive the day after Thanksgiving and last into the following weekend.
