Storm Team4 Forecast: Rain continues Wednesday before dry weather ahead

Storm Team4 has the weather forecast for D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia

4 things to know about the weather

  1. More needed rain today
  2. Drying out tomorrow
  3. Nice and warm Friday
  4. Dry, comfortable weekend

The same storm that flooded parts of North Carolina on Monday bringing us beneficial rain today, will slowly begin to move away from our area tomorrow.

Sadly for our drought-stricken region, rainfall totals with this storm have been on the lower end of the expectations to this point.

Rain, moderate at times, will impact at least the first half to 3/4 of the day. Rainfall totals are likely to be in the half an inch range for most of the area but a lucky few spots should still get an inch or more.

The clouds and rain will keep temperatures in the low to mid-70s this afternoon. Showers will continue into the evening and thick cloud cover will remain well into the day tomorrow.

There will still be a chance for a few quick showers on Thursday but rain totals will be less than 0.10 inches. With the storm moving away, there could even be a few breaks of sunshine by late Thursday afternoon with highs eventually reaching the mid- to upper 70s.

Drier, cooler weather to come this weekend

As sunshine returns on Friday temperatures will jump back into the low to mid-80s. As of now the weekend still looks dry.

A very weak cold front will come through Saturday morning keeping afternoon highs in the mid- to upper 70s. Sunday and Monday will be even cooler with highs only reaching the low to mid-70s.

Generally, dry weather will last from this Friday well into next week with the next storm system not arriving until Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest. The tropics have a few waves worth watching but nothing is posing a threat to the U.S. mainland any time soon.
