4 things to know about the weather
- Rain Early, Dry Later
- Generally Good Travel Weather
- Thanksgiving Washout
- Cold Pattern Begins Saturday
We are starting out with some much-needed rain on Tuesday morning. We will get another steady soaking on Thanksgiving Day before a much colder weather pattern takes shape this weekend.
Rain in the early morning will add up to about a quarter-inch before ending around noon. Gusty northwest winds will bring much drier air in for the afternoon leading to at least a few breaks of sunshine and high temperatures around 60°.

Clear skies overnight will help temperatures fall into the mid-30s by Wednesday morning, one of the biggest days of the holiday travel rush. The I-95 corridor will be dry from D.C. to Boston and south, all the way through the Carolinas.
The biggest weather impacts on holiday travel on Wednesday will be in the inner-mountain West, including Denver and Salt Lake City.
Thanksgiving Day washout
That storm in the West will arrive here just in time to soak our Thanksgiving Day from start to finish.
If there's going to be an end to the rain on Thanksgiving, it won't come until sunset at the earliest. Rain totals of a half-inch to 1 inch are expected with temperatures hovering close to 50° all day.
A cold front will come through late Thursday afternoon so the wind will pick up as the rain ends.
Wintry temps starting on Black Friday
Friday will be breezy, chilly and dry with highs only reaching the mid-40s.
A genuine shot of winter cold arrives just in time for the weekend and the first full week of December.
From Saturday onward, temperatures will be running 10-15° below average. That means afternoon highs will barely reach 40° and overnight lows will be in the mid- to upper 20s.
This will be our longest stretch of colder-than-average weather since the start of September (eight days in a row) when staying below average actually felt good.
