Storm Team4 Forecast: Cool all Sunday with a frost coming

Storm Team4 has the weather forecast for D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia

NBC Universal, Inc.

4 things to know about the weather

  1. Cool fall weather for the Marine Corps Marathon and the Commanders game
  2. Coldest temperatures since March (30s!) tomorrow morning
  3. Near 80° on Thursday for Halloween.
  4. 25 days without measurable rainfall

As we traverse the final weekend of October, it's finally feeling like fall again — at least, before another surge of late-summer temps.

Expect a cold start to Sunday morning. Temperatures will be in the low 40s inside the Beltway, but mid 30s will be common in the Shenandoah Valley and northern Maryland.

Competitors in the Marine Corps Marathon and 10K race should have a shed-able layer for the staging areas. By noon, it will be in the mid 50s without a cloud in the sky as the four- to five-hour finishers cross the line at the Iwo Jima memorial.

Highs will reach around 60° Sunday afternoon.

Monday morning will be even colder, with frost/freeze issues potentially reaching the metro area and northern Maryland.

The warming trend will begin right after that cold start. Temps in the mid 60s on Monday will be followed by the low 70s on Tuesday and near 80° for Wednesday, Halloween and Friday.
