D.C. fell just short of 80° on Wednesday but fear not, warmer weather will come back again next week.
For now, it's back to average with chilly mornings and cool afternoons. A cold front came through overnight so we will have to contend with a steady northwest wind Thursday.
Sunny skies and very low humidity values, combined with the wind, will lead to an elevated fire risk this afternoon. Use extra caution if you're doing any outdoor burning and be mindful not to toss cigarette butts out the window. They belong in the ashtray.
After three days in the 80s this week, staying in the 60s on Thursday will feel extra cool. The wind will die down after sunset and Friday morning will start with many of the rural areas in the mid-30s.
Friday will be a perfect October day: sunny from start to finish with afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 60s. Another cold front will come through Friday night so the gusty northwest winds will be back on Saturday with highs near 70°.

The weather looks cool for Marine Corps Marathon over the weekend
Sunday is the Marine Corps Marathon and this year's weather will be much cooler and drier than last. Temperatures will be near 40° in the staging area near the starting line with a light north breeze.
By noon, it will be in the mid-50s without a cloud in the sky as the four to five-hour finishers cross the line at the Iwo Jima Memorial.
Next week still looks to remain completely dry. Highs will start out in the 60s on Monday, get back to around 70° on Tuesday and could still reach 80° on Halloween!
The tropics are quiet for now but there are some signs that another storm could form late next week
