4 things to know about the weather

  1. Not bad for A Monday
  2. Good travel weather
  3. Rainy Thanksgiving
  4. Much colder pattern ahead

One of the busiest travel weeks of the year is here and, on the whole, the weather won't cause too many concerns.

The biggest downsides will be a steady rain for most of Thanksgiving Day and a sharp turn to a much colder weather pattern starting this weekend. No worries Monday, however.

Sunshine Monday morning will slowly be replaced by clouds by the afternoon with most areas getting around 60°. Showers will arrive late Monday evening, well past midnight for most, and then linger into the first half of Tuesday morning.

A gusty northwest wind will help to bring some sunshine back Tuesday afternoon with highs once again reaching 60°. Clouds from a developing storm over the Great Plains will arrive on Wednesday and keep temperatures in the low to mid-50s.

Thanksgiving week forecast

Rain will arrive Wednesday night and persist all the way through Thanksgiving Day. Temperatures will hover around 50° throughout the day with rainfall totals of half an inch or more likely.

A colder and drier pattern starts on Friday. Sunshine will return by Friday at noon but a steady northwest wind will hold high temperatures in the mid-40s. High pressure from Canada will settle in for the weekend and drive temperatures well below average for quite a while.

Highs in the upper 30s, overnight lows in the mid-20s and a breeze will have it feeling like mid-winter. That chill will last from Saturday through Wednesday so dig out the puffy coats. Sorry snow lovers, all this cold will come without any chances for snow.
