We continue the holiday weekend with the cold air ready to advance and settle across the D.C. area for the next seven to 10 days.
A series of cold fronts starts Friday. It will be windy, with highs only reaching the mid-40s. A genuine shot of winter cold arrives in time for the weekend and the first full week of December.

From Saturday onward, temperatures will run 10 to 15° below average. That means afternoon highs will barely reach 40° and overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 20s. This will be our longest stretch of colder-than-average weather since the start of September, with eight days in a row, when staying below average actually felt good.
