Storm Team4 has the weather forecast for D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia

NBC Universal, Inc. Storm Team4 has the weather forecast.

4 things to know about the weather

  1. Slight chance for a brief a.m. shower, and dry later
  2. Generally good travel weather. west of I-81 snowfall may make roads hazardous
  3. Wind gusts today 20-30 mph
  4. Cold pattern will continue through the upcoming week.

We continue the holiday weekend with the cold air ready to advance and settle across the D.C. area for the next seven to 10 days.

A series of cold fronts starts Friday. It will be windy, with highs only reaching the mid-40s. A genuine shot of winter cold arrives in time for the weekend and the first full week of December.

From Saturday onward, temperatures will run 10 to 15° below average. That means afternoon highs will barely reach 40° and overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 20s. This will be our longest stretch of colder-than-average weather since the start of September, with eight days in a row, when staying below average actually felt good.
