Storm Team4 Forecast: No rain in sight for cooler fall weekend

Storm Team4 has the weather forecast for D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia

NBC Universal, Inc. Storm Team4 has the weather forecast.

4 things to know about the weather

  1. 24 Days without measurable rainfall, no rain in sight.
  2. Gusty today, chilly tonight, cold start tomorrow for the Marine Corps Marathon.
  3. Chilly for the Commanders Game tomorrow.
  4. Near 80° on Thursday for Halloween.

As we head into the final weekend of October, it will finally feel like fall again -- at least, before another surge of late-summer warmth returns next week.

Daytime highs will be very close to average (67°) on Saturday.

The front will pass by around sunrise Saturday, and there's a small chance that it could wring out a few sprinkles of rain as it does. However, rain chances are only 10%, and even that little chance will dry up by 9 a.m. The rest of Saturday will be cool and breezy, with increasing sunshine during the afternoon.

The wind will die down after Saturday's sunset.

The weather looks cool for the Marine Corps Marathon over the weekend

Expect a cold start to Sunday morning. Temperatures will be in the low 40s inside the Beltway, but mid 30s will be common in the Shenandoah Valley and northern Maryland.

Competitors in the Marine Corps Marathon and 10K race should have a shed-able layer for the staging areas. By noon, it will be in the mid 50s without a cloud in the sky as the four- to five-hour finishers cross the line at the Iwo Jima memorial.

Highs will reach around 60° Sunday afternoon.

Monday morning will be even colder, with frost/freeze issues potentially reaching the metro area and nouthern Maryland.

The warming trend will begin right after that cold start. Temps in the mid 60s on Monday will be followed by the low 70s on Tuesday and near 80° for Wednesday, Halloween and Friday.
