4 things to know about the weather
- Mild Monday ahead
- More clouds Tuesday
- Mid-week rain chance
- Blustery, cold Thursday
A new week begins and, for better or worse, Monday will be the nicest day of the week.
No chance of needed rain on Monday. Partly sunny skies with most of the D.C. Metro area getting close to 70° Monday afternoon.

High pressure will keep us dry again Tuesday but thickening clouds and a bit more moisture in the air will keep highs closer to 60°. That's still enough above the average high of 57° to be considered mild for mid-November.
A large storm will develop over the Great Plains later Monday and bring a risk of severe storms from Kansas City to central Oklahoma, Dallas and Houston, Texas. The center of that storm will head into the upper Midwest but the cold air it is tapping into will dive to the South. We will get a surge of mild and humid air ahead of that storm.

Our skies will turn cloudy on Wednesday with rain chances arriving late in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will climb well into the 60s Wednesday even without any sunshine. Our most likely time for rain this week will come between sunset Wednesday and sunrise Thursday.
There is still some disagreement among the forecast models on the timing and the amount, but rain totals are not likely to exceed half an inch.
Thursday will be blustery and cold. Gusty northwest winds, plenty of clouds and daytime highs barely reaching 50° will be a reminder that winter isn't far away. Friday and Saturday will also fall into the breezy and cold category with highs only reaching the low 50s at best.
The steady wind will keep overnight lows from dropping much below 40° but wind chills will be close to freezing for kids waiting at the bus stop those mornings.
Dry weather this weekend will last into next week which is good news for Thanksgiving travelers.
