Storm Team4 Forecast: Isolated showers with drier afternoon to follow

Storm Team4 has the weather forecast for D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia

NBC Universal, Inc. Storm Team4 has the weather forecast.

4 things to know about the weather

  1. Back above average
  2. Drying out later today
  3. Saturday looks great
  4. Few drops possible on Sunday

As the storm that brought us the rain yesterday begins to move out, our weather will turn warm and dry once again.

Our average high is now down to 80°. Tomorrow, that average drops to 79° and the average won't get back to 80° again until next Memorial Day weekend.

With that in mind, the next three days will all be warmer than average and mainly dry.

There is still a chance for a few isolated showers today. That chance is focused in the southwestern part of our viewing area towards Charlottesville and will end by noon.

The D.C. area is unlikely to get even a drop today. With the return of some sunshine this afternoon, highs will reach the low 80s today.

Warmer weather before a Sunday cooldown

Sunny skies and mid-80s are on tap for Friday and Saturday. Our forecast models are now hinting that a small wave of low pressure will come through the area Saturday night.

This will bring increasing clouds Saturday evening and a small chance for a passing shower between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday. Sunday afternoon will be dry, but cooler, with temperatures staying in the mid-70s.

Monday and Tuesday also look dry with highs near 75°. Rain chances will return next Wednesday and should last for several days in a row. Let's hope so. We're still way behind on rainfall.

There are currently no significant threats in the tropics, but there are signs that there could be a storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico in the second half of next week. StormTeam4 will keep you posted.
