4 things to know about the weather
- Few midday showers
- Dry Friday & Saturday
- Showers Sunday evening
- Monitoring Hurricane Rafael
Temperatures will stay well above average again Thursday and Friday before more November-like weather returns for the weekend.
All three major airports logged record highs on Wednesday with both Reagan National and Dulles reaching 83°! More than 20° above average.
Yesterday also set a record for consecutive dry days in Washington at 35! The amazing part of that dry weather record is that it began the day after D.C.'s second-longest run of wet weather. Reagan National recorded rainfall on 11 consecutive days running from Sept. 21 through Oct. 2 and hasn't seen a drop since.
A cold front passing through the area Thursday will wring out a few rain showers from mid-morning into early afternoon. Rain totals will be 0.05 inches or less for those who get any rain at all. Outside of Thursday's rain chance, it will be quite warm once again.
Highs on Thursday will be well up into the 70s. Friday still looks to be a very nice day with sunny skies and highs just above 70° for most of the I-95 corridor.

Tracking rain chances
A second cold front will come through Friday evening and keep high temperatures on Saturday closer to 60° even with plenty of sunshine once again. A storm heading into the Great Lakes on Sunday morning will bring us our best chance at area-wide rainfall late Sunday afternoon and evening.
Rain totals are likely to be between 0.10 inches and 0.50 inches. Not exactly a super soaker but better than nothing. Monday, Veteran's Day, will start cloudy and damp and end with clearing skies and highs near 70°.
Hurricane Rafael is now in the southern Gulf of Mexico. As the storm passes into the central and western Gulf it is expected to lose intensity and become a Tropical Storm. As of now, Rafael poses no threat to the U.S. mainland but it will be watched carefully.
