Wake-Robin Golf Club Celebrates 80th Anniversary
In the 1930s, most public golf courses were off-limits to people of color. But a group of African-American women — wives of an all-black men’s club — decided they were tired of being “golf widows.” They fought to play and they won. Today, 80 years after the Wake Robin Golf Club was established, the legacy lives on. News4’s Carol Maloney spoke to some of the oldest and newest members.
