Stephen Strasburg Breaks Nearly Century-Long Drought For Washington Pitchers

The Washington Nationals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 Wednesday, completing a perfect 6-0 road trip with two sweeps of AL East opponents.

Stephen Strasburg was on the mound Wednesday and had another masterful performance: six innings, five hits, two runs and eight strikeouts. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Strasburg fanned Colby Rasmus to earn his 100th strikeout of the season:

Strasburg is the first MLB pitcher to reach 100 Ks this season, which is quite impressive, but he is also the first Washington pitcher to accomplish that since Walter Johnson in 1919 (via Elias Sports Bureau).

Keep in mind that there was not a team in Washington between 1971 and 2005, but let's not let facts get in the way of such things.
