William Hill Sportsbook at Capital One Arena officially opens originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Wednesday marks a big day at Capital One Arena, as the William Hill Sportsbook at the arena held its grand opening.
With Capitals and Wizards owner and CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment Ted Leonsis in attendance, the sportsbook made history as it became the first sports betting venue to coincide with a professional sports arena in the United States.

“This is really the first step in the reinvention of the role that arenas play in the community, in the city, and how we can get closer to our customers," Leonsis said on Wednesday.
The opening comes at a special time for Capital One Arena, as the Washington Wizards will welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to town on Saturday for Game 3 of the first round playoff series.
With the sportsbook now open for business, fans will have an opportunity to place some bets close to the action on the court.
