Who's Next: Top 10 DMV high school boys basketball players on the rise

For decades, the DMV has been a hotbed for basketball talent. From Kevin Durant to Victor Oladipo to Rebekkah Brunson, the region has been home to some of the world's best basketball players, and that doesn't look to end anytime soon. So, who's next? Throughout the week, NBC Sports Washington will answer that question, taking look at the next crop of players creating a buzz in the DMV.

Rodney Rice

Class: 2021

Position: Combo Guard

School: DeMatha

Offers: 20

Rodney Rice is a high-IQ combo guard with dynamic scoring ability. His length yields him the versatility to attack from a myriad of spaces on the floor. His transfer from Bullis to DeMatha is one of the biggest moves of the off season.

Favour Aire

Class: 2022

Position: Center

School: Bishop McNamara

Offers: 10

Favour Aire is regarded as one of the top bigs in the nation. His long arms lend him the ability to block anything around the rim, as he serves as a defensive anchor for the Mustangs. Aire has consistently improved his post game while at McNamara. Expect him to put up a big junior campaign.

Quincy Allen

Class: 2021

Position: Wing

School: Maret

Offers: 17

Quincy Allen is an extremely athletic wing who can fill it up from short, mid and long range. Beyond proving to be a dynamic scorer, Allen has demonstrated an ability to create offense for his teammates as well. He has good court vision and stellar ball-handling skills.

Benny Williams

Class: 2021

Position: Wing

School: St. Andrews Episcopal

Committed: Syracuse

The recent Syracuse commit is a student athlete whose game is worth the price of admission. At 6-foot-7, Williams is a wing that can defend all five positions on the floor. His athleticism is off the charts and with his extended range, he is a problem from beyond the arc. 

Jakai Robinson

Class: 2021

Position: Wing

School: National Christian Academy

Offers: 10

Jakai Robinson is one of the most underappreciated student athletes in the DMV. His offensive prowess allows him to put up 20-plus points on a nightly basis. A floor general, Robinson uses his strength to his advantage -- his tenacity allows him to take over stretches of games.

Erik Reynolds

Class: 2021

Position: Combo Guard

School: Bullis

Offers: 14

Erik Reynolds is a highly skilled guard who displays excellent court vision and tremendous leadership.

Reynolds can do it all on the court. Last year, the Bullis star's season ended early due to an injury. Anticipate him bouncing back with a phenomenal senior campaign.

Darren Buchanan Jr.

Class: 2022

Position: Wing

School: Wilson

Offers: 5

Darren "June" Buchanan should be considered the "King of DC public schools' hardwood." Buchanan led his Wilson Tigers to the DCIAA and DCSAA championship games. He can handle the ball, finish at the rim through contact, defend all five positions, and he is a force in the paint; capitalizing on other's misses and turning them into scoring opportunities.

Bez Mbeng

Class: 2021

Position: Combo Guard

School: Good Counsel

Offers: 7

Bez Mbeng is a slick ball-handler who displays both explosive athleticism and a knack for scoring the ball. His all-around offensive game helped him earn first team all-WCAC honors last season while leading Good Counsel to one of its best seasons in ages.  

Jordan Hawkins

Class: 2021

Position: Shooting Guard

School: DeMatha

Offers: 13

Jordan Hawkins is a natural scorer who displays the skill of a great midrange game and the strength to finish in the lane over would-be defenders. When Hawkins is hot, he's a knockdown shooter who is hard to contain.

Nasir "Dug" McDaniel

Class: 2022

Position: Point Guard

School: Paul VI

Offers: 15

Dug McDaniel is one of the most fun student athletes to watch in the DMV and beyond. He couples high basketball IQ with amazing court vision and a handle that allows him to breakdown even the best defenders. McDaniel gets to the rim at will and has an uncanny ability to make big shots.
