Fitzpatrick views QBs using social media the way Smith does originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Ryan Fitzpatrick's predecessor in Washington, Alex Smith, didn't care for personally posting workout videos on social media in order to show how dedicated he was to his craft. Turns out that Fitzpatrick, Smith's draft classmate, owns the exact same opinion on the matter.
The topic came up when Fitzpatrick was asked on the Washington Football Talk podcast about when he was planning to get together with his new pass catchers like Terry McLaurin and Logan Thomas.

"I’ve got to figure out the offense first, and I think we’ll have plenty of time for that," Fitzpatrick said.
"I don’t know," he continued. "I think a lot of the guys like to throw in the offseason, they like to invite the news crews and secretly announce where they’re throwing and when. That’s just — I think we’ll have plenty of time. That’s just not very important on my radar right now."

After Fitzpatrick gave that answer, JP Finlay jumped in to point out how the QB unintentionally mimicked Smith's stance on such activities.
That drew a laugh out of Fitzpatrick, as well as this follow up.
"Alex and I are the same draft class," he said. "We’ve known each other for a long time. I think the older you get, the longer you’re around, the more you see through a lot of this stuff. People aren’t really doing it for themselves a lot of the time."
For comparison's sake, here's what Smith told the local media the day he was introduced as a Burgundy and Gold signal caller back in 2018 after he was pressed on whether he'd organize something for his bunch of receivers.
"I think a lot of that stuff looks great on TV, I think it’s great for Instagram followers... Sometimes, to go do that, it looks great, I’m not sure you’re getting bang for your buck there."
Yep, seems like those two are in total agreement!
Fortunately for the pod, Fitzpatrick promised — with complete sarcasm — that they'll be invited to his (not-actually-going-to-happen) session with Washington's skill players when he sets it up.
"I’ll tip you guys off," he said. "Just don’t tell anybody that I told you about it, though. We’ll come up with a cool nickname, too."
