Ravens announce Ben Cleveland signing in a clever way originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Third-round pick Ben Cleveland has signed his four-year rookie contract with the Baltimore Ravens as the guard was one of two unsigned picks left from the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Ravens' social account made sure to remove any names alluding to one of their AFC North rivals. In doing so, they renamed - at least temporarily for the purposes of a social post - Cleveland's last name.
Bradley Bozeman spent two seasons at left guard, and now the 26-year-old is shifting to center, so there will be an open competition to take over the role Bozeman leaves behind.
Cleveland will look to win the starting left guard position as the 22-year-old hopes to beat out Ben Powers, Tyre Phillips, and others to protect quarterback Lamar Jackson and improve the Ravens' ground game.
The former University of Georgia offensive lineman is 6-foot-6, 357-pounds, so his size could give him the edge in the competition.
"Obviously, that's the goal for this year," Cleveland said in May. "That can't happen until I get the playbook down and learn my assignments."
The Ravens are now left with only one unsigned draft pick as fellow third-round selection Brandon Stephens is the last rookie to need a contract.
