Lane Kiffin tosses clipboard, sprints up sideline to celebrate TD originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Lane Kiffin has never been one to bottle up his emotions.
The Ole Miss head coach is among the more vocal coaches in college football and brings a level of energy to the job that is hard to match. Never was the latter more evident than Saturday, when the Rebels hosted South Carolina in a battle between two struggling SEC teams.
Kiffin’s offense got the ball deep in its own territory down four with just under 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Two plays into the drive, Rebels quarterback Matt Corral launched a deep pass down the field to a wide-open Elijah Moore, who turned the play into a 91-yard, go-ahead touchdown.
As exciting as the play was, it was Kiffin’s reaction that caught viewers’ attention.
Before Corral even threw the ball, Kiffin knew his team was about to score. He held his arms up in the air until Moore secured the catch, then chucked his clipboard before sprinting up the sideline and pumping his fist in celebration.
No word on Kiffin’s sprint speed or distance of clipboard thrown. But whether it was the big play or Kiffin’s reaction, the momentum shifted in the Rebels’ favor after that. Ole Miss would go on to score again the following drive and lock up a 59-42 win over the Gamecocks.
