Lamar Jackson on Josh Allen: ‘He's Slingin' the Ball, Like a Patrick Mahomes'

Lamar Jackson on Josh Allen: ‘He’s slingin’ the ball, like a Patrick Mahomes’ originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Bills quarterback Josh Allen, in a lot of ways, will always be connected.

Not only were they both selected in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2018, they’ve both faced their share of criticisms for various flaws, fair or otherwise.

And after Jackson’s standout 2019 season, Allen had his own MVP-caliber 2020 season.

Allen’s accuracy improved greatly, to 69.2 percent, as he threw 37 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions in 16 games for the Bills this season. His big arm has drawn comparisons to some of the game’s best, even the game’s best, too.

“People always just talk about Josh and his big arm,” Jackson said Tuesday. “He’s doing it all out there. He’s getting out the pocket, taking advantage of what the defense gives him, throwing the ball on a rope. He’s slingin’ the ball, like a Patrick Mahomes and he’s just helping his team out a lot. He’s one of the key reasons they’re putting up so many points and winning games. Hats off to Josh.”

Both Allen and Jackson will be the focal points on Saturday night for an AFC Divisional Round game, as Jackson’s legs and Allen’s arm, both once perceived as flaws, will be on center stage.
