When Dr. Anthony Fauci threw out the first pitch in Thursday night's opener for the Washington Nationals, it didn't go as planned. Juuuusssttt a bit outside was the first phrase that came to mind. Although, so did the lame "flattened curve" joke variations on Twitter too.
Either way, Fauci had a great sense of humor about it when talking to The Washington Post.
"I used to be a shortstop when I played as a young guy, I thought I was supposed to throw to first base," said Fauci.

Okay it clearly wasn't a great throw. But you could still put it behind what 50 Cent did a few years ago.
50 Cent sees himself trending and then realizes it's because of Fauci's first pitch. 😂

Fauci is 79 years old and doing far more important things than caring about his ceremonial first pitch. Who cares. Okay, it was funny sure, but the most important part about all this is that he's been repping the Nats throughout this whole process.
Can we please put to rest the lame "flattening the curveball" jokes though? Please.
