Gafford could return during Wizards' road trip originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
It appears the Wizards could be getting some much-needed reinforcements in the front-court at some point during their upcoming road trip.Β
As head coach Scott Brooks alluded to before Washington's matchup with the Warriors Friday night, Daniel Gafford could make his return from an ankle injury soon.Β

"[Gafford] had a great workout 3-on-3 yesterday, he really looked good," Brooks said. "You're always a little worried about the next day, and he felt great this morning so he's trending in the right direction. I could see him playing on this road trip. I don't know exactly which game, I hope that it's soon because his skill set is something that we've never had here and we're looking forward to developing him and getting him better.
"I think it's coming pretty quick, I think he has a chance to get back on the court with us soon," BrooksΒ said.Β
After the Wizards acquired Gafford from the Bulls at the trade deadline, the young big man only got to play in two games before suffering a right ankle sprain against the Pacers.Β
Gafford was impressive in such a short time, too. Over 28 minutes of play in two games, Gafford totaled 24 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. His ability to protect the rim and be a lob threat on the other end of the floor gave, as Brooks has said on many occasions, something the Wizards simply haven't had lately. It's not a coincidence Washington won the only two games Gafford played in.Β
Washington certainly won't complain about getting their best big back to go up against the Suns and Jazz, who own two of the top three records in the league right now.Β
