The Capitals will host four games of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association's (PWHPA) 2021-22 Secret Dream Gap Tour at MedStar Capitals Iceplex from March 4-6. As part of the tour, the Caps and PWHPA will also present three clinics for local players from March 3-5. Instruction will be given by PWHPA athletes and coaches as well as the Capitals youth hockey development staff.

โ€œThe Washington Capitals are thrilled to host the U.S. stop of the 2021-2022 PWHPA Secret Dream Gap Tour and support women's professional hockey,โ€ Capitals president Dick Patrick said in a press release. โ€œThere is an incredible talent within the PWHPA, and we look forward to hosting the games and clinics at MedStar Capitals Iceplex this spring.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re excited to finally be able to share what has been in the works with the Washington Capitals for quite some time,โ€ said Jayna Hefford, PWHPA Operations Consultant. โ€œThe Capitals have already been outstanding partners throughout the planning process and have made a significant commitment to grow girlsโ€™ hockey locally, so I know the event itself will be a great experience for our players, our fans and local players. Weโ€™re excited to make our way back into the United States and continue working towards our ultimate goal.โ€

Four teams will participate with the winners of the first games on March 4 and 5 advancing to the Showcase Final on March 6. The Final will be preceded by a consolation matchup between the other two teams.

The clinics will comprise of one youth clinic, one adult clinic -- which will feature a Q&A with Hefford and PWHPA players -- and a clinic for elite players ages 13 and above.

More information on the clinics and game schedule can be found at washcaps.com/PWHPA.

โ€œHaving recently launched ALL CAPS ALL HER to further grow participation in hockey among females, helping to advance the game among women across all levels is incredibly important to us as an organization,โ€ Patrick said, โ€œAnd we are honored to be working with the PWHPA on this event.โ€
