One of the NFL's most prominent reporters doesn't believe there will be a change at the top of Washington's organization anytime soon, even as the team deals with Thursday's Washington Post story that contains numerous allegations of internal sexual misconduct spanning many years.
"Dan Snyder is going to own the team and that's not gonna change," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter minutes after the Post released its piece.
Snyder himself was not accused of sexual harassment, but 15 women spoke of many incidents involving a host of employees who worked for him.
Overall, though, Schefter doesn't envision anything happening to the man who's been in charge of the franchise since 1999, but he did explain that these problems are largely why Snyder's partners are reportedly looking to sell their stakes.
"Obviously there is bad blood between those limited shareholders and Daniel Snyder," he said. "We all can see what's going on here, how this is all shaking out."
Schefter acknowledged the possibility of the league handing down some sort of penalty in the aftermath of the story - a fine or even a loss of draft picks.
Yet that, to him, doesn't matter nearly as much as something else.
"It goes beyond that in this point in time," Schefter said. "It goes to making fundamental changes that are required in our society, of things that are completely unacceptable that have gone on allegedly in their organization from these various individuals. This is up to the organization to clean this up."
