He had heads turning and tongues wagging as he chowed down at a corner table at Georgetown’s swanky Café Milano? Basketball legend Michael Jordan was spotted there Sunday night, holding court with three buddies.
Dressed in a crisp white shirt and jeans, Jordan took his hat off and slid into a corner table to dine with his friends, according to The Hill newspaper.
Of course Café Milano was buzzing as staff ogled and guests speculated about what might have brought the former Chicago Bulls star to Washington, “this” time. You may recall that back in 2000, Jordan came to Washington to become president of the Washington Wizards' basketball operations and a minority team owner. The following year, at the age of 38, he came out of retirement to play briefly for Washington. At the time, Jordan said he was returning to the court “for the love of the game” -- not to tarnish his legacy.
Looked like business and basketball were far from the minds of those assembled on Jordan's team at Café Milano. Dressed down and chowing down, they appeared to be having such a ball that when the clock struck 11 p.m., theirs was one of the last three occupied tables in the joint.
Jordan wasn’t the only power player craving Café Milano that night.. Washington power player and Bill Clinton friend Vernon Jordan (no relation) was also hungry that night, as was Vanity Fair writer Christopher Hitchens, who ate at his own table..
