Jordan Zimmermann Makes Washington Baseball History With Victory Thursday

Jordan Zimmermann threw yet another gem for the Nationals Thursday, scattering six hits over eight innings and striking out nine in a 5-1 victory over the Rockies.

Zimmermann has easily been Washington's best pitcher this season, and his recent run of success at Nationals Park is historic.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, Zimmermann has not allowed an earned run in three consecutive home starts (his one run Thursday was unearned) and Thursday was his 11th straight home start in which he surrendered two or fewer runs. His 11-game streak is the longest-ever by a Washington pitcher, including the Senators of the American League.

At 10-3, Zimmermann is tied for the major-league lead in wins and third in the National League in innings pitched. The Nationals are 12-3 when he pitches, the third-best winning percentage in baseball.
