Capitals Fans Share Thoughts on Rene Bourque

Montreal Canadiens forward Rene Bourque was not well liked by the Washington Capitals and their fans this season.

As a member of the Calgary Flames, Bourque's careless elbow to Caps forward Nicklas Backstrom's head January 3 caused the latter to miss 40 games with a concussion.

Coincidentally (and perhaps ironically), Backstrom returned to Washington's lineup Saturday against Bourque and the Canadiens. Backstrom did not figure into the scoring, but the Caps earned their second consecutive 3-2 shootout victory Saturday, giving them sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with three games remaining.

Bourque was heartily booed whenever he touched the puck Saturday, but Caps fans really let Bourque know how they felt about him in the form of a silent protest in the men's room:

I guess Bourque was Public Enemy No. 1.
