The ink on Virginia's newly passed transportation funding bill is hardly dry, but several northern Virginia lawmakers have already launched an online campaign to get Gov. Bob McDonnell to rid the bill of the so-called hybrid tax.
A link to the petition set up by Va. Sen. Adam Ebbin & Del. Scott Surovell -- who both voted against the plan -- is below.
Under the new regulations, drivers of hybrid vehicles would have to pay a $100 annual fee.
When asked Saturday night about the likelihood of changing that part of the bill, Gov. McDonnell replied, "We'll review it."
He also said he thinks Virginia is ahead of other states in realizing gas tax revenues are declining and looking for new ways to collect revenues from road users.
