Pakistani Taliban Claims Support for Rebel Forces

Pakistani Taliban leaders claimed to have sent "hundreds of fighters" to Syria to take part in fighting against President Bahar Assad, NBC News reported. A Taliban commander said that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan set up camps in Syria to join local mujahideen forces, according to Reuters. However, Pakistani government and military authorities challenged the group's claims, alluding to their past failures to resist security forces. Pakistani authorities said that the TTB are making claims in their desire to get international attention. In the meantime, forces loyal to President Assad have already driven opposition fighters from the capital and recaptured important regions of Syria.
