Restaurateur B. Smith Walked From Harlem to Battery Park, Went to Staten Island: Husband

Former model and celebrity restaurateur B. Smith walked more than halfway across Manhattan, took the ferry to Staten Island and back and then walked back to midtown before being found Wednesday, her husband says.

In a post on Facebook, Smith's husband Dan Gasby recounted the 65-year-old's movements after she was reported missing from the Hamptons Tuesday evening. She was found about 17 hours later by a friend, Gasby said.

"Just for the record here's what B experienced so there are no rumors: B walked from midtown to Harlem to battery park took the ferry rode a bus in Staten Island then the ferry again walked to la parisienne on 7th w58  across from our old address where a friend happened to see her!" Gasby said in the Facebook post.

Smith, who owns restaurants on Manhattan's restaurant row and in Sag Harbor, revealed earlier this year that she has Alzheimer’s disease.

According to her website, she was the first black woman to grace the cover of Mademoiselle's magazine in July 1976. She also was the host of "B. Smith With Style," a nationally syndicated talk show that aired in the mid 1990s on NBC stations across the country, including NBC 4 New York

She lives in Sag Harbor.
