A young Charles County volunteer firefighter and medic was killed in a nearly head-on crash late Tuesday night.

Autumn Marie Jenkins, 20, died in the crash on Maryland Route 425. Jenkins was a five-year firefighter/EMT with the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department.

Authorities say that according to a preliminary investigation, Jenkins was driving south shortly after 9 p.m. as 23-year-old Darren Loyce Windsor drove a Chevrolet Silverado north.
