World's Tallest Man May Have Stopped Growing

8-foot-tall man was treated at the University of Virginia Medical Center

Thanks to treatment by researchers at the University of Virginia Medical Center, the world's tallest man may have reached his peak.

Measuring at 8'3", Sultan Kosen of Turkey is listed in the 2011 Guinness World Records at the tallest living man.

Kosen, 29, visited UVA in May 2010 for treatment of a disorder called acromegaly, which is usually caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland.

He was placed on a new medication that could potentially help control the production of growth hormone and stop his continued growth, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

UVA officials say doctors in Turkey have reported that Kosen has stopped growing.
