Police say a person of interest is in custody after a woman tried to abduct a little girl from outside her home in Georgetown by luring her with cotton candy.
The father of the 6-year-old girl told News4 that a nanny was driving car pool on Tuesday and dropped his daughter off in front of their house on Dumbarton Street NW.
A woman then came up from behind and grabbed the girl by the arm and tried to yank her away, according to the police report.
During the struggle the woman said, "Come to my house, I have cotton candy," the police report said.
Police say the girl managed to pull her arm free and then ran inside the house.
She ran into her mother's arms and sobbed, saying, "Never! Never! I will never go!" her father said.
Police Chief Peter Newsham said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon that a person of interest in the case was arrested for a separate incident. He did not give details about the other incident.

Police had described the suspect as a white woman who is about 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches and has blonde hair in a mohawk hair style.
She was last seen running east on Dumbarton Street NW, wearing a white coat.
Surveillance video shows the person of interest walking into a corner store and dancing.
