Virginia Man Dead After Crashing Into Garage Door in Maryland

Crash caused fire

A Virginia man died after his vehicle crashed into a garage door in Annapolis and caught fire.

Anne Arundel County police said a Jeep driven by 25-year-old Dana Simonsen, of Centreville, entered the driveway of a home on Fort Hill Court about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said the Jeep hit the garage door, pushing it into the garage. Officers said Simonsen apparently lost consciousness with his foot on the gas pedal, causing a wheel to spin until it caught fire.

Simonsen was flown to John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he died from his injuries Monday.
