Two Suspects Indicted in Brutal Lansdowne Beatings

Two of three suspects in the beating death of William Bennett were indicted on several charges including murder.

Loudoun County deputies found Bennett's body in a grassy area next to Riverside Parkway in Lansdowne, Va. early on March 22, 2009. His wife, Cynthia Bennett, was found injured nearby.

Jaime Ayala and Darwin Bowman have been indicted. A third suspect remains in custody.

The suspects allegedly are members or associates with an established street gang, though the attacks on the Bennetts may not be gang-related. The motive appeared to be robbery, authorities have said.

A white panel van seen in the area of the attacks was key to breaking the case. It had also been spotted during a gang-on-gang assault in Sterling on February 28.
