An FBI agent was involved in a shooting on board a Metro train early Tuesday and an investigation is underway, Metro and FBI officials say.
A man was shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital. Information on his identity and condition were not immediately released.
Metro Transit Police received a report just before 7 a.m. of โan FBI agent-involved shootingโ on board a Red Line train near the Medical Center station in Montgomery County.

"On the train, sir. I got a guy here wounded, been shot," a Metro station manager is heard saying on a recording of the emergency call placed to authorities.
The man was taken from the Metro station to a hospital, Metro officials said.
Metro Transit Police are investigating the events leading to the shooting, and the FBI is investigating their agent and the shooting itself, Metro said.

The FBI confirmed that the shooting occurred but did not provide details on what led up to it or who fired the shots.
They said in a statement that the shooting is under investigation by their inspection division. โThe review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances,โ the statement said.
Red Line trains were bypassing the Medical Center station, which is near Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health. Riders were told to expect delays.
