Train Hits Car, Tow Truck In Riverdale Park

No injuries reported after freight train strikes vehicles

No injuries were reported Saturday evening after a train struck a tow truck that was trying to pull a stuck car off the tracks .

Police in Prince George's County say that the accident happened at around 8:45 p.m. after a Lexus was driven onto the train tracks near Queensbury Road.

Riverdale Park Police arrived and called a tow truck to try and get the Lexus off the tracks. However, before the truck could remove the car, both vehicles were hit by a CSX freight train.

It is unclear if the train's operator had been contacted to inform him of the cars on the track. The driver of the Lexus was arrested for driving under the influence.

The accident remains under investigation
