Ten People Displaced After Flames Rip Through Homes in Southeast DC

Ten people are without a home after monstrous flames ripped through townhomes in Southeast D.C. News4’s Derrick Ward reports how the Red Cross is helping the people affected by the fire.

Three homes were damaged, causing 10 people to flee after an early Saturday morning fire in Southeast D.C.

The fire apparently started in one home in the 3500 block of 21st Street Southeast sometime after 4 a.m. Saturday. The heat from the blaze caused home on one side of the original structure to also catch fire, but damage was lessened due to sprinklers inside.

A second home, separate from the original one on fire, was also damaged.

Ten people in the three homes were displaced. There were no apparent injuries. Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.
