Three Boats Destroyed in Md. Marina Fire

Three pleasure boats were destroyed in a fire at an Edgewater, Md., marina Thursday morning.

Anne Arundel fire crews were called to the Oak Grove Marina on Old Solomons Island Road around 4:40 a.m. At its peak, the flames were so intense, a motorist on the South River Bridge noticed the fire.

Fire officials say the fire aboard the boats is out, but a fuel fire is burning in the water near the boats. Firefighters are pumping the remaining fuel from the engines of the boats.

All three boats are between 30 and 40 feet long.

No injuries were reported.

David Frye and his wife Majorie looked on in shock at what was left of their boat.

"Gone. It's absolutely gone. Um, it's not salvageable," Majorie said.

David added, "Inside's gone; everything's gone...If you can picture and eggshell cut in half and empty or a canoe that's what it looks like."

Officials are working to determine what caused the fire.
