Leaders from dozens of countries are in D.C. this week for the Nuclear Security Summit -- which means the District is now experiencing some major transportation changes.
Heads of state and other international leaders are meeting to discuss how to stop nuclear terrorism around the world. As a result, the Secret Service is stepping up security, restricting parking and closing roads.
Green and Yellow Line Metro trains are now bypassing the Mt. Vernon Square-Convention Center station through Friday evening.
Many streets around the Washington Convention Center are or will be closed at some point, including portions of New York and Massachusetts avenues, and K and M streets.
Make sure to give yourself extra time to get around town.
Local and federal law enforcement officials announced security plans Monday for the Nuclear Security Summit, with last week's attacks in Brussels bringing more concerns to the forefront.
The summit runs through Saturday.

METRO STATION:

Yellow and Green Line trains will not stop at the Washington Convention Center from 8 p.m. Wednesday through 8 p.m. Friday. Trains will pass through this station without stopping.

No other Metro stops will be affected by the Nuclear Security Summit.
METROBUS STOPS:

7th and 9th Street NW bus stops between N and K Streets NW will be diverted around the Washington Convention Center.
