NBC Washington Rewind: The 2011 East Coast Quake
On August 23, 2011, a 5.8.-magnitude earthquake struck near Mineral, Virginia, about 80 miles southwest of D.C. The total damages from the earthquake were about $200-$300 million. Luckily no one died or was seriously injured. This was the largest and most damaging quake to the U.S. East Coast in over 100 years.
