An Anacostia High School student was shot and killed early Sunday morning in the District.
Police responded to the 2700 block of Langston Place SE shortly after 12:30 a.m., where they found 16-year-old Darius Cannon, of Southeast, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was not breathing and not responsive. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police identified him late Sunday afternoon.
Cannon's aunt, Robin Vaughn, told News4's Darcy Spencer that Cannon had a twin sister and had been one of 14 siblings, although another sister died several years ago.
"He was quiet, obedient," Vaugn said.
She said she didn't know why anyone would want to shoot him, and is pleading for anyone with information to come forward. Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction.
