Swim Coach Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Sex Abuse

A popular Montgomery County swim coach has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to sexually abusing one of his students in the 1980s. She’s now speaking out about the abuse. Zachary Kiesch has the story.

The Montgomery County swim coach who confessed to abusing a child 30 years ago received his sentence Thursday.

Christopher Huott, 53, who founded the Maryland Suburban Swim Club, is set to serve 10 years in prison.

The victim, a woman now in her 30s, told police earlier this year that Huott forced her to engage in sex acts in the 1980s, during the time Houtt was her swim coach and babysitter. The abuse began when she was 6 or 7 years old.

Houtt pleaded guilty in July to one abuse charge, according to court documents.
