A man has been charged with shooting and killing 24-year-old Rudy Perez Gutierrez during a robbery, according to the Prince George’s County police. News4’s Darcy Spencer spoke to the victim’s brother.

A man was arrested and charged Wednesday with killing a 24-year-old man in Hyattsville, Maryland, police say.

Officers found Rudy Perez Gutierrez, 24, of Hyattsville, and another victim shot at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Guilford Road about 5:15 p.m. on Friday, according to a Prince George’s County Police Department release.

Perez died at the scene. The other victim, his brother, did not have life-threatening injuries.

His brother told News4 and Telemundo44 that the shooting happened near his brother's apartment.

Alex Quinteros, 28, of Takoma Park, was arrested Wednesday in connection to the fatal shooting.

Quinteros is charged with first- and second-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery, and other charges. He is being held at the Department of Corrections without bond.

One man is dead and another is in the hospital in critical condition after a shooting in Hyattsville. News4's Solangi Sosa reports.

His family said they think the shooting was a case of mistaken identity and said they do not have any known enemies.

Investigators said the shooting happened during a robbery and was a random attack.

Perez was born in Guatemala and lived in the U.S. for several months. He was returning to his apartment from his construction job when he was killed.

His family is raising money to send his body back to his home country.
