Police are looking for the car belonging to a shooting victim found dead inside a northwest D.C. apartment following a fire Friday morning, News4's Pat Collins reported.
Fire crews were called to a second-floor apartment at 1034 Euclid Street NW about 6 a.m., where they found flames and the body of 31-year-old Randolph Scott Harris Jr.
“My son doesn’t bother anybody,” said his mother, Twanda Thomas. “Why would someone kill him like that?”
Police said there were bullet wounds in Harris's body, and they believe the fire was started in an attempt to hide the body. Two dogs were rescued from the apartment.
Witnesses said Harris's silver, four-door 2006 Mercedes SUV with Maryland plates "7AL7802" was parked on Euclid as of 2 a.m. but was gone after the fire. (Similar vehicle pictured below.)
Harris worked as a merchandiser for 7-Eleven and had a 10-year-old daughter.
