One Killed in Multiple-Vehicle Crash in Southeast D.C.

One person died and several others were taken to hospitals for treatment after a multiple-vehicle accident in Southeast D.C. Wednesday evening.

One man was killed and three others were injured in a catastrophic head-on crash Wednesday evening near the D.C./Prince George's County border.

It happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Suitland Parkway near Alabama Avenue SE. Authorities said a car jumped the median and crashed head-on into another vehicle.

One person was ejected and later died of his injuries, News4's Jackie Bensen reported.

EMS technicians brought the victims to hospitals in the District and Prince George's County.

Authorities also found an empty child seat in one car. Out of an abundance of caution, police searched wooded areas and called in a helicopter before determining a child had not been ejected.

Alabama Avenue was closed at Suitland Parkway, and Suitland Parkway was closed between Naylor Road and Stanton Road for several hours after the crash.
