Gunman Rushes From Md. Home; Taken Down by K-9

A man who was barricaded inside a Prince George’s County home was arrested after he ran from the house with a gun in his hand.

A Prince George's County police K-9 helped apprehend a gunman high on PCP after a barricade in Lanham, Md., Sunday, police said.

After police received a report of a possible burglary in the 9500 block of Wellington Street about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, they found a man acting erratically and destroying windows inside a home, police said. He refused to leave the home, in which police determined he was alone.

Police negotiated through the night with the man, but at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, he jumped from a rear window armed with a handgun and threatened police, who fired one shot at the gunman but missed him, police said.

The man jumped fences as he fled through the neighborhood, but K-9 Rambo quickly caught him, grabbing his arm and forcing him to drop the weapon, police said.
